Nguru Indigenes Unite to Tackle Unemployment at Maiden Meeting

From Auwal Salim, Yobe

The first-ever meeting of Nguru indigenes, held in Yobe State, Nigeria, brought together technocrats, business tycoons, and academics to discuss ways to improve the living standards of the people, particularly the youths who are unemployed.

The meeting was chaired by Alh. Mohammed Ibrahim Tsoho, who called on Nguru indigenes to put aside their differences and work together to revitalize the town’s economy. He specifically mentioned the need to reactivate the Nguru Oil Mills, Meat processing Company, and Rail Transportation from Nguru to Kano.

Tsoho lamented the current state of affairs in Nguru, saying that it is far from what it used to be. He attributed the town’s decline to a lack of unity among the indigenes.

“Coming together as one is the only way to address the current situation,” Tsoho said. “The lack of unity among the indigenes has kept the town stagnant, with nothing to offer the upcoming generation.”

Former Yobe State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Sani Inuwan Nguru, emphasized the need for the indigenes to think about the future of the young generation.

“We need to put a mechanism in place that will allow us to think about the future of our children,” Nguru said. “Doing so will prepare them for a brighter future.”

Balarabe Abdullahi, a chieftain of the APC in the state, said the meeting was meant to unite the indigenes and find solutions to the problem of unemployment in the area.

He called for collaboration among all Nguru indigenes who are willing to see the development of the local government, Yobe North region, and Yobe State as a whole.

Many speakers at the meeting called for such meetings to be held annually or quarterly in the future.

The meeting was attended by many prominent Nguru indigenes.
