Nigeria, Morocco Deepen Cooperation on Humanitarian, Poverty Reduction Initiatives

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Delu Bulus Yakubu, has met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nigeria, His Excellency Moha Ou Ali Tagma, to strengthen bilateral cooperation on humanitarian service delivery and poverty reduction programmes.

The meeting, which took place at the Moroccan Embassy in Abuja, focused on expanding collaborative efforts between Nigeria and Morocco aimed at tackling poverty and improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations through sustainable humanitarian initiatives.

During the discussions, both parties reviewed ongoing and proposed bilateral projects and explored innovative strategies to enhance social protection and humanitarian response systems across both nations.

According to a statement signed by Khalipha Abdulrahman Isah, Personal Assistant, New Media, Office of the SSA to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Ambassador Tagma, who received Hon. Yakubu alongside his Deputy Head of Mission and senior embassy officials, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Nigeria in addressing humanitarian and development challenges.

The statement noted that the meeting would further consolidate the longstanding diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries while paving the way for practical collaboration in key areas of social and economic development.

In her remarks, Hon. Yakubu commended the Moroccan government for its continued cooperation and emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening international alliances that align with his administration’s vision of lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty.

She described the collaboration with Morocco as a reflection of both nations’ shared commitment to building resilient communities, fostering inclusive growth, and implementing sustainable humanitarian and poverty reduction programmes.

The engagement also underscored the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing humanitarian challenges in Africa, reaffirming the need for stronger regional partnerships to tackle emerging socio-economic concerns.
