NILDS Vows to Inculcate Democratic Culture on Students

The Director General of the National Institute of legislative and Democratic Studies Professor Abubakar Suleiman
has vowed to inculcate culture and Democracy among secondary school students in the country.

The Director General of the institute Professor Abubakar Suleiman Disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the National Quiz Competition on Legislature and Democracy organized by the agency for secondary school students selected from the North West Geo-Political zone, held Murtala Muhammad Library in Kano.

Represented by the Director, Department of Economic in the institute professor Peter Shiya said the objective of the organizing the Quiz Competition was to provide continued Education on the Legislature and to broaden knowledge of the students and youths on the history, practice and procedures of the legislature.

“This 8th edition of the competition is
therefore the second time the
competition is holding at the
national level .

The competition will also stimulate the interest of the youngsters in
politics and make them more
proactive in matters relating
to the legislature and
democracy.”

The Director General maintained that The quiz competition is an
initiative of the National
Institute for Legislative and
Democratic Studies.

He said the first edition of the competition was held
in 2016 with participating
schools drawn strictly within the
Federal Capital Territory.

” The idea was to catch them young, so that they will have a clear understanding of how the legislature functions and the Democracy”

The participants of the quiz competition were selected from the seven states of the North west Geo-Political Zone
