NIS establishes taskforce to facilitate timely passport issuance

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the establishment of a dedicated taskforce to facilitate timely passport issuance process and eliminate backlogs.

The NIS, under the leadership of Comptroller General Mrs. Caroline Adepoju, has made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for delays.

Mrs. Adepoju conveyed this directive during her end-of-month parade held at the Immigration Headquarters in Abuja over the weekend.

A statement released by Mr. Dotun Aridegbe, the spokesperson of the NIS, quoted Mrs. Adepoju emphasizing that the continued presence of passport control officers at all passport offices nationwide would be contingent on their ability to issue passports promptly.

Comptroller General Adepoju emphasized that existing backlogs must be swiftly resolved, with no excuses accepted, as passport booklets are consistently supplied to passport offices.

“To enforce this directive effectively, the Nigeria Immigration Service has put in place a dedicated taskforce responsible for monitoring the operations of passport offices and submitting daily reports to the Comptroller General” stated Adepoju

Furthermore, Mrs. Adepoju assured the public that the process of obtaining a Nigerian passport has been streamlined for applicants, and every effort will be made to ensure that Nigerians can obtain their passports without unnecessary hassles.
