NISO Commends Kano DisCo on Market Performance

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has commended Kano Electricity Distribution Plc. (KEDCO) for its recent performance, with a market remittance of 100 percent, strengthening the company’s position as the best-performing DisCo in Northern Nigeria.

Sani Bala Sani, Head, Corporate Communications disclosed this in a statement issued to PRIME TIME NEWS today.

According to Sani, the NISO team, led by the MD/CEO, Engr. Abdu Mohammed Bello, who were in KEDCO headquarters on a courtesy visit, applauded the company’s swift operational and financial transformation under its current investor and management.

Engr. Abdu, however, noted that the achievements are not merely coincidental, but deliberate efforts by the Jimeta-led management and firm support from the visionary board and core investor, Future Energies Africa (FEA).

Engr. Abdu, who also charged the KEDCO Management Team on teamwork, innovation, and sustained performance trajectory, assured NISO’s readiness to work closely with KEDCO to strengthen coordination and enhance power supply reliability, despite prevailing constraints.

He acknowledged Kano’s strategic position in the economy of the North and Nigeria at large, saying it is the ‘nerve center’ of the North, expressing his organization’s resolve to drive sustainable national development through improved efficiency, grid stability, and enhanced service delivery.

In his remarks, KEDCO’s MD/CEO, Dr Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, appreciated the NISO management team for the visit and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to efficient service delivery and strategic partnerships for improved service delivery.

Dr Jimeta, who informed that the company had recorded significant milestones in the areas of network upgrade and expansion, improved operational efficiency, market performance, strategic partnerships, and renewable energy efforts, appealed that the NISO team should endeavour to visit again and witness these business turnaround efforts.

The KEDCO MD/CEO said, “We are working daily to improve, and we shall not relent until we unlock the full potential of our operating area, utilizing the experience of my team and support from the board and core investor.”
