Northwest University Sokoto Expands Health Education with 10 New Courses, Says VC Professor Maigari
The Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University, Sokoto, Professor Ahmed Maigari Ibrahim, has highlighted the introduction of ten additional health-related courses as a significant milestone in his two-year tenure at the helm of the institution.
Speaking during a press briefing in Kano over the weekend, Professor Maigari revealed that the university now offers a total of 27 academic programs across various faculties.
Professor Maigari credited the university’s progress to the steadfast commitment and dedication of its academic and administrative staff. “The commitment and dedication we have received from our staff have been instrumental in achieving the expansion of our academic offerings with these ten new courses. As of now, we offer a total of 27 programs,” he confirmed.
He went on to specify the key programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences, which now include MBBS, Pharmacy, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Environmental Health, and Public Health.
Additionally, Professor Maigari elaborated on the university’s broader academic portfolio. “In our Faculty of Science and Technology, we provide courses in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Computer Engineering, among others.
“In the Faculty of Humanities, our offerings include Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, Sociology, and Psychology.
“In the Faculty of Education, we have established programs in Educational Psychology, Educational Foundations, and Educational Technology,” he emphasized.
The Vice-Chancellor also confirmed that the university comprises seven faculties, currently serving a student body of 500. “We have seven faculties and a student population of 500,” he stated.
Expressing optimism about future enrollment, Professor Maigari remarked that the introduction of ten new health courses is expected to significantly boost student admissions. “We are confident that these additional health programs will help us attract more students, enhancing our overall enrollment,” he added.
Professor Maigari also highlighted the university’s impact on the local community, particularly in terms of employment opportunities and economic development.
He called on parents and guardians to consider enrolling their children in the university, highlighting its affordability and community-focused mission. “I urge the public to enrol their children at Northwest University, Sokoto. The university was established with the mission to support our community, and our tuition fees are only a fraction of what other institutions charge. This is an opportunity for success that should not be missed,” he affirmed.
