NSCDC Arrests 32 for Looting Shops During Protest in Kano
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 32 individuals following the looting of shops during a protest in Kano. The protest, which was hijacked by miscreants, led to the breaking into and looting of various shops.
This is contained in a statement on Thursday by SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of Civil Defence, Kano Command.
According to him, the arrests were carried out by personnel from the Corps’ Fagge Divisional Office in the Kano command. The suspects, mostly youths, were apprehended in areas around Sabon Gari, Bata, France Road, and Murtala Mohammed Way. Properties worth thousands of Naira were recovered from the suspects.
In a related incident, operatives of the NSCDC, with the assistance of good Samaritans, seized additional stolen items from hoodlums in Gyadi Gyadi, Kano. These items were allegedly stolen by miscreants during the protest at State Road and Iyaka Road in the municipality.
The NSCDC has initiated an investigation into the incidents. Upon completion, appropriate legal actions will be taken against those involved.
