This was contained in a statement signed by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Muhammed Badarudeen, and made available to newsmen in Dutse, the state capital.

The statement added that the suspect was arrested on August 7, 2025, at his residence in Shuwarin town, Kiyawa LGA.
However, while being transported in a security van to the NSCDC headquarters in Dutse, he reportedly jumped from the moving vehicle in an attempt to escape lawful custody.
The statement further noted that the suspect sustained injuries in the process and was taken to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention, where he was confirmed dead.
His relatives, however, requested a medical report from Sambo Hospital Limited, Dutse, which indicated that he died while attempting to escape from a moving vehicle traveling at high speed.
