The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 3,400 operatives across the state to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The State Commandant, Hassan Mohammed Agalama, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the move is part of proactive measures aimed at safeguarding critical national assets and ensuring peaceful festivities across Kano State.
Agalama said personnel have been strategically positioned at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, and other vulnerable public areas to prevent any security breaches.
He added that special attention has been given to the protection of critical infrastructure, including power installations, water facilities, telecommunications masts, and other government assets.
According to him, intelligence and surveillance units have been strengthened, while rapid response teams have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to emergencies.
The command also reiterated its commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest authorities. Parents and guardians were also advised to caution their children against engaging in unlawful acts.
The Commandant assured residents of the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, urging everyone to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr peacefully and responsibly.
The statement was signed by Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the State Commandant.
