NSCDC in Kano Apprehends Nine Suspected Burglars
Responding swiftly to a distress call from residents of Unguwar Fulani, Kumbotso LGA, vigilant operatives of the Corps from the Kumbotso divisional office have arrested nine suspected burglars who were planning to steal from a polythene products company located at Challawa industrial area.
The statement released on Tuesday by SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Civil Defence in Kano command, disclosed that the suspects include Abba Nasiru Adamu (23), Ibrahim Adamu (22), Hassan Sulaiman (30), Basiru Aliyu (25), Hashimu Ibrahim (49), Umar Hudu Hassan (27), Shamsu Haruna (37), Ibrahim Abubakar (39), and Mudassir Hassan Dahiru (23). “These individuals hail from Kurna, Dotsa, and Brigade areas of Kano state. However, Nasiru Haladu, the alleged gang leader, remains at large, and a search has been launched to apprehend him. Haladu is reported to be an employee of the polythene company”, the statement revealed.
“The suspects, numbering ten, arrived at the area in a Toyota Corolla E (registration number ABC396LX) with the intention to steal a large collection of the company’s goods. Fortunately, with the assistance of the community, our personnel apprehended them around 13:30hrs,” the statement read.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court after investigation by the Corps intelligence and investigation department.
“In recent times, there has been a surge in criminal activities such as burglary, theft, and vandalism of public assets, causing great concern to the residents of Unguwar Fulani, Kumbotso local government area. The vehicle belonging to the suspects, intended to transport the stolen products, was set ablaze by angry youths in the area.”
