NSCDC Kano Command Urges Professionalism Amid Planned Youth Protest
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Kano Command has emphasized the need for professionalism among its officers ahead of a planned peaceful protest over the economic hardship by youths.
According to SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Kano Command, Commandant Mohammed Lawal Falala, FCNA, conveyed this directive during a strategic meeting with management, area commanders, and divisional officers on Tuesday.
Commandant Falala relayed the message from the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, stressing that officers must respect the constitutional rights of citizens to peaceful protest.
“You must always respect the dignity and sanctity of human life. We all know the constitutional right of the citizens in staging a peaceful protest. I want you, therefore, while relating with the public during the demonstration to behave professionally and civilly. You’re to take action only when, God forbid, the protest turns violent. Even in this instance, you should intervene in a professional manner,” Falala stated.
Falala also instructed that all officers be present and diligent in their duties during the protest. He urged collaboration with other security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Police and DSS, to ensure the security of lives and property.
Additionally, the state commandant appealed to the youths to remain peaceful and law-abiding, cautioning them against allowing criminals to infiltrate their ranks. “Justice will always catch up with the criminal elements,” he warned.
The directive comes after Falala’s return from a crucial meeting with the Commandant General in Abuja. The NSCDC Kano Command has deployed over 3,500 personnel to protect critical national assets in preparation for the upcoming protest.
