NSCDC nabs seven suspected vandals at Kano airport

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, has apprehended seven suspected Vandals at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement made available to Prime Time News on Tuesday.

He said the suspects were apprehended after vandalising and stealing 10 manhole metal covers belonging to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.

“The arrest was effected by personnel of the Corps deployed to the facility, and the suspects were handed over to the Anti-vandalism Unit, whose diligent investigation led to the arrest of more suspects,” Abdullahi said.

“The aforementioned are directly involved and connected with the criminal act; with two additional receivers of the items Shamsu Ibrahim Usman, 35, as well as Yusuf Abdulmumini, 25, of Daiba Rijiyar lemo and Kurna Babban layi respectively also in the NSCDC net,” the statement said.

According to the statement, exhibits recovered from the suspects in the course of the investigation included 10 manhole covers and one Mercedes-Benz car.

Meanwhile, the state command of the corps has also nabbed two suspected thieves, one Haruna Musa, 39, of Hotoro Kwanar Sabo, Nassarawa Local Government, and Sadiq Suleiman, 27, of Rijiyar lemo, Ungoggo Local Government, Kano State.

The two suspects confessed to having committed theft at Kanawa Economic City, Dangwauro, Kumbotso LG by stealing four large solar panels in the market.

“The Nine suspects will be charged in Court by the Corps’ legal unit after completion of investigations,” the statement added.
