NUJ charges Zamfara, Federal Gov’t to arise against insecurity

Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on Governor Dauda Lawal to vividly collaborate with federal government to do the needful towards stopping banditry activities that reemerged in the state.

This was contained in a communique signed by the State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Ibrahim Maizare and made available to newsmen in Gusau Zamfara State capital through the Council’s Secretary, Ibrahim Ahmad Gada.

The statement which expressed the NUJ’s deep regret over the reemergence of banditry activities in the state that impacted on the lives of innocent people, further called on both the State and Federal Governments to strengthen their ties with a view to save more lives and property.

“The congress regretted the return of incessant attacks and other forms of insecurity across the state and it’s negative impact on the people, thereby called on the State and Federal Governments to strengthen their collaboration in addressing the menace.

“The union while commending the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal for initiating State Security Trust Fund as part of it’s measures towards addressing the security situation in the state, advised the government to immediately set up a social security committee with membership that involves stakeholders like traditional rulers, retired security personnel”, the communique has issued.

According to it, the congress stressed the need for the State Government to as a matter of urgency roll out palliatives for people of the state to cushion the devastating effects of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
