The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Kano State Council, has congratulated the newly-appointed Commissioner for Information of the State, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, describing the appointment as well-deserved.

This is contained in a congratulatory letter signed by the Chairman of the council, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, and its Secretary, Comrade Abba Murtala, and circulated to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.

In the document, the union said: “The appointment is well-deserved in view of your impressive pedigree, first as a former Editor with the Triumph Newspapers, two-term President of the elite Nigerian Guild of Editors(NGE), former Director-General(Media), retired Permanent Secretary, and above all, member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies(mni).”

The council hoped that Dantiye would bring his unmatchable experience to bear in projecting the good image of the state as well as managing information about the policies and programmes of the Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration.

It also hoped that the new Information Commissioner would carry along all working Journalists in the state “in the discharge of the all-important tasks ahead.”

“As your professional colleagues,we pledge to give you all the necessary support, cooperation and understanding to enable you succeed in the attainment of the noble objective,” the union added.
