From Auwal Salim, Yobe
The newly inaugurated officials of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Nguru Chapter, Yobe State, have pledged to collaborate closely with the Local Education Authority to advance educational initiatives.
This commitment was made during a courtesy visit to the office of the Education Secretary of the local government.
The delegation, led by the Union Chairman, Mallam Mohammed Bashir, stated that the visit was a familiarization tour.
“Even though we are not new here, we are here to introduce our newly elected members,” Bashir said. He added, “This is our home, but this visit marks our maiden one since the election.”
Bashir expressed appreciation to the Education Secretary for the support provided to the union members before and after the election.
“We are partners in progress, and we will continue to support the government at all levels in implementing policies and programs aimed at advancing education, particularly at the basic level,” he affirmed.
In response, the Education Secretary, Mallam Hamisu Ado, assured the delegation that the local government would create a conducive working environment for teachers.
He highlighted ongoing government efforts, in collaboration with development partners, to standardize the teaching and learning environment across Yobe State.
“What the government needs in return is your cooperation and support,” Mallam Ado concluded.
The NUT delegation included Mallam Sabiu Sabo, Deputy Chairman; Mallam Garba Badamasi, Secretary; Mallam Kabiru Muhammad Jinjiri, Treasurer; among other officials.
