NYCSO Inaugurates New Executive Members in Yobe

The Network of Yobe Civil Society Organizations (NYCSO) officially ushered in a new era of leadership on Thursday with the inauguration of its newly elected executive committee.

The swearing-in ceremony, which had the theme ,”Building on Legacy, Forging a New Future,” was held in Damaturu and formally commenced the team’s three-year mandate to steer the affairs of the prominent coalition.

The incoming officials took an oath of office, administered by Chief Magistrate, Mamman Shettima, pledging to uphold the values of the organization and work diligently towards its objectives of promoting good governance, civic engagement ,and sustainable development across Yobe State.

In his inaugural address the newly elected Chairperson, Muhammad Baba Kucici pledged to dedicate his energy, passion and commitment to serving this collective vision.

He explained that, their journey to this moment began with an acknowledgement of those who paved the way.

He expressed their deepest and most sincere appreciation to the outgoing NYCSO Chairperson, Alhaji Baba Shehu, and his team for having steered the network through both calm and turbulent times.

“The shoes you leave behind are indeed large no, they are enormous and your contribution was generous. The legacy you bequeath to us a legacy of unity, integrity, and impactful service is a challenge we accept with determination.

“We are not here to replace, but to build upon this legacy,” said the newly sworn-in Chairperson of NYCSO, Muhammad Baba Kucici.

The outgoing chairman, Baba Shehu, presented a handover note and commended the members for a successful tenure. He expressed confidence in the new team’s ability to build upon existing achievements and take the network to greater heights.

Shehu used the forum to appreciate Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, for being friendly to the participation of CSOs in the governance process.

The NYCSO serves as an umbrella body for numerous civil society groups in Yobe State, playing a pivotal role in policy advocacy, democracy monitoring, and community development initiatives.

The event was attended by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly represented by his Deputy, Ya’u Usman Dachia, commissioners’ representatives, security officials, representatives from member organizations, government officials, media partners, and other development stakeholders.
