One of Kano’s remaining 2023 pilgrims dies in Saudi Arabia

One of the remaining Kano State pilgrims who performed the 2023 Hajj, Alhaji Umar Hamza, has died in Saudi Arabia, the State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Sulaiman Dederi, said the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Laminu Danbappa, broke the news of the death in Gaya, headquarters of Gaya Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we announce the demise of Alhaji Umar Hamza, one of our pilgrims remaining in Saudi Hospital,” Danbappa said.

He said the pilgrim who was aged 75, died in a Saudi Hospital on Thursday after a brief illness, as confirmed by the Saudi Hospital Management.

He expressed sadness over the demise of Alhaji Umar Hamza, whom he said was an Islamic Scholar.

The Director General, on behalf of the management of the Board, extended his deepest condolences to Jafar Umar Hamza, son of the deceased, other members of his family, as well as the entire Muslim Ummah.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to Grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the huge loss.

He said details of burial arrangements would be announced by the Saudi Hospital Management, the statement added.
