One Year On: Senator Hanga Lists Achievements, Plans More Projects

Senator Rufa’i Hanga(NNPP Kano State) said he had paid N45 million registration fees for 200 indigent students of Bayero University,Kano(BUK) who hailed from the Kano Central Senatorial District.
Hanga,who represents Kano Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, said he had also given scholarships to over 200 students from the area who are studying at the Kano State Polytechnic.
The lawmaker disclosed this while reeling out his achievements in office in the last one year, and his future plans, at a news conference in Kano on Thursday.
He also stated that he had distributed free JAMB scratch cards to 1,135 students and distributed about 10,000 books and other learning materials to primary school pupils in the zone, during the period.
“I have also empowered 1,116 women across the 15 Local Government Areas of Kano Central with a capital of N50,000 each to enable them start small businesses which will enhance their economic status.
“This is in addition to free medical outreach for treatment of people for various diseases which I sponsored across the 15 Local Government Areas and 172 wards,as well as the repairs of boundless of boreholes to put an end to water scarcity, all in the Kano Central Senatorial District,” he said.
Hanga further disclosed that he built an Islamiyya school at Gobirawa ward in Dala Local Government Area and donated a plot of land to Maikalwa community of Kumbotso Local Government Area to enable the people expand the size of their mosque.
He said he had also distributed thousands of bags of millet, maize, rice and other food items as palliatives to the people of the zone.
“I have also provided permanent and pensionable federal government employment offers for the people of Kano Central which included those of the Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service,the Nigeria and Civil Defence Corps, as well as the CBN and NNPC,”the lawmaker said.
Hanga then disclosed that he plans to execute more projects for the benefit of the people of the Senatorial District to include construction of Women Training Centre in Dala Local Government Area,construction of Zaria road to Garin Babba in Garin Mallam Local Government Area,and provision of instructional materials and uniforms for Islamiyya school students across the zone.
In the coming years,the lawmaker also said he planned to among other dividends of democracy,supply motorcycles,Install solar street lights,construct a road from Ungoggo to Minjibir,train youths and women in fish processing and preservation in the zone.
“I also plan to construct the Layin Makabarta road in kumbotso/Nasarawa Local Governments,supply instructional materials across the 15 Local Government and 172 wards in Kano Central,purchase and supply bicycles to primary school pupils,as well as purchase and distribute Transformers to some communities in the zone,” the Senator added.
