Over 10 Universities attend maiden TISNI Innovation Expo 2025 in Kano

No fewer than 10 Nigerian universities on Thursday in Kano participated in the maiden edition of the Students’ Local Solutions Exhibition, organized by the Tech Innovators and Solutions Network Initiative (TISNI).
The event, held at the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria Kano, provided an opportunity for selected final-year students of the universities to present their innovative project ideas before industry experts and stakeholders.
TISNI Team Lead, Mrs. Aisha Kwaku, disclosed in her remarks at the occasion that the expo is about changing the mindset to enable students to start thinking about what they want to do after graduation.
She named the participating institutions as Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Skyline University, Bayero University Kano, Northwest University Kano, Federal University Dutse and Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
Other universities are Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, Baba Ahmed University, Capital City University and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi.
Mrs. Kwaku explained that the best-performing student innovators would receive awards and cash prizes ranging from ₦150,000 to ₦500,000, based on the quality, creativity, and market potential of their projects.
“The goal of this initiative is to inspire students to turn their innovative ideas into viable business ventures—moving from campus to market,” she said.
In his remarks, the Founder of the University, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo urged the students to be innovative, saying with innovation you can stand on your own.
Also speaking, the Acting President of the University (Acting Vice Chancellor) Prof. Ahmad Ibrahim Maigari, commended the TISNI team for the initiative, noting that it aligns with the vision of the university’s founder, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, who consistently promotes innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
