Phone Snatchers Arrested in Plateau State

Two suspected phone snatchers, Bello Mohammed and Yusuf Ibrahim, have been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command in Rayfield, Jos South Local Government Area.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, on Friday in Jos, said the suspects were apprehended by good Samaritans and handed over to the police at the Anglo-Jos division.
The suspects, aged 26 and 20, allegedly snatched a mobile phone from one Dorcas Chuwang, around 5 pm on August 30.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, commended the public for their assistance and warned those engaged in criminal activities to desist.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be prosecuted accordingly.
State Police Command has also arrested three suspects in connection with a notorious “One Chance” syndicate operating in the state.
Umar Abu, Peter Ezekiel, and Kelvin Monday were apprehended by the police at Rantya roundabout on August 29, 2024, while attempting to escape with a stolen phone.
The suspects confessed to being members of a syndicate that hypnotizes and robs victims, especially of their mobile phones. Exhibits recovered include an Android phone and the tricycle used in the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, assures citizens that the command will continue to work towards ensuring their safety and sustaining peace in the state.
