PLASIEC Visits Media Houses in Jos

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC has underscored the importance of collaboration with Media Outfits in the state.

This is crucial in driving progress and achieving set goals of the Commission, saddled with the responsibility of conducting free, fair and credible local government elections.

In a statement signed by the head of media Koro Yakubu, said the Chairman of the Commission Plangji Cishak spoke when he led members of the Commission on a media tour to various Media Outfits in the state.

Cishak emphasized on the need to sensitize the local electorates especially on voter education and the modalities in conducting local government elections in line with Global best practice.

He challenged the media and particularly journalists on the need to fact-check information before dissemination to the public and maintain integrity and professionalism in thier reportage.

He lauded Governor Caleb Mutfwang for giving the Commission members a free hand to operate within the confines of the electoral acts, deviod of tribalism and political differences.

Media Heads of the various Outfits visited such as NTA, News Agency of Nigeria, Rhythm FM, Unity FM as well as the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ among others promised to partner with PLASIEC to ensure adequate coverage of activities of the Commission.

They also promised to maintain professionalism for the overall success of the forth- coming local government polls which is to be announced in due course.
