Plateau Deputy Governor, Piyo, assures women, girl child of Government’s equal opportunities

The Plateau State Government has pledged to continue creating equal opportunities for women and girls to fulfill their potentials in life.

Josephine Piyo, the deputy governor of Plateau State, made this pledge at the Trefoil Guild Nigeria Annual National Conference held in Jos the state capital.

As the Patron of the Trefoil Guild Nigeria, an arm of the Nigerian Girls Guide Association, Piyo emphasized that the national conference, themed ‘Our World, Our Thriving Future,’ would address the challenges faced by women and girls in Nigeria.

The Deputy Governor highlighted the prevalence of challenges and opportunities affecting women such as social and gender-based inequality, as well as global conflicts.

She stressed the importance of women in creating a thriving future, citing their strength, resilience, and determination to effect positive change in communities and beyond.

She, however, stated that the Barr. Caleb Mutfwang’s administration acknowledges the importance of women’s inclusivity in governance as he recognizes their potential to enhance productivity and improve the economy of the state and beyond.

She reiterated government’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for women and girls in the state and urged them to adopt the roles of change-makers, innovators, and leaders, contributing to a brighter future for all.

The Country Chairperson, Trefoil Guild Nigeria, Dame Christie Toby, in her remarks, encouraged young women and girls to strive and build a better future for themselves.

Toby added that the Trefoil Guild would continue to explore crucial global issues through the lens of environmental sustainability, gender equality, peace, and poverty eradication.

The Plateau State Coordinator, Trefoil Guild, Esther Kareem, commended the state government for giving women the opportunity to showcase their talent and add value to the state.

Our correspondent reports that participants were drawn from various states of the Nigerian for the annual conference. There were presentation of awards to deserving officers for their dedication to impactful services.
