Plateau Information Commissioner to oversee Tourism Ministry following suspension of Jamila Tukur

The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has assigned the Commissioner of Information and Communication Musa Ashoms, with more responsibilities.

Ashoms is to oversee the Ministry of Tourism following the suspension of Jamila Tukur.

Our correspondent recalls that Plateau State Governor had suspended the former Commissioner of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality, and also that of Budget and Planning penultimate week leaving the office vacant.

Musa Ashoms while taking over as the Interim Commissioner of the Ministry of Tourism in Jos pledged a strategic move to reinvigorate the tourism sector

He emphasized the critical role tourism plays in driving development and pledged to implement robust policies to transform the sector.

While acknowledging the vast potential of Plateau State’s tourism industry, he vowed to work in collaboration with the entire staff of the  Ministry to harness the great hidden potential in the state.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary of, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Hospitality, Jacob Keng, welcomed Ashoms and urged him to prioritize the completion of the Luka Bentu indoor theatre, a project that will boost revenue generation for the State.

Keng while assuring Ashoms of the support of the entire staff described his appointment as a strategic move to revitalize the tourism sector and drive economic growth in Plateau State.

He explained that Ashoms wealth of experience in information and communication is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the Ministry, leveraging his expertise in promoting Plateau’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential.
