From Tongnaan Bawa, Jos
Former Member of the Plateau State House of Assembly and a political Stakeholder of the Labour Party LP in Plateau State, Daniel Nanbol Listick, has described the judgement of the Appeal Court as temporary setback.
Speaking with Journalists in Jos said the Party and it’s Plateau Senatorial Candidate Barr. Gyang Zi, is ready for the re-run elections as Campaigns and other high-level preparations are in top gear.
Listick who was optimistic of his party of winning the re-run said Zi is the recognised Candidate of the Party during the 2023 elections and had met all the electoral requirements, participated in the election and his name was on the ballot papers adding that for that reason, he remained the legal candidate of the party.
The former house of Assembly member debunked rumours by one Abdullahi Salihu Adam, that he is the Candidate of the Party, saying that such a person is being sponsored by a Political Party against the Labour Party’s Victory ahead of the re -run elections.
The party chieftain also dismissed the actions of some individuals who claimed that the party executives actions were sponsored by some individuals who were meant to destabilize the political party.
He however wondered why at this critical time that a re-run had been ordered, saying “These elements who have been in political oblivion surprisingly appeared from the blues to claim leadership and senatorial candidate of the party while warning them to desist from those unproductive actions ”
The lawmaker added that the “National secretariat of the Labour Party only recognizes Grace Zamfara, as the legally recognized State Chairman of the Party and barrister Gyang ZI, as the Candidate of the party who participated in the February 25th 2023, Presidential and national assembly elections”
“I urged members and the general public to verify the information from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on who is the authentic chairman of the party and its senatorial candidate as those parading themselves are faceless and some are not recognised in any capacity” He said.
“The party as part of its preparation has begun a series of consultations with critical stakeholders in the plateau Northern Senatorial district vowing them strategic meetings and engagement which will result in victory for the party at the polls”
The stakeholder further pointed.
