Plateau Speaker Appeal to Federal, State Govt To Ensure Normalcy Returns to Affected Communities

The Speaker of Plateau House of Assembly  Gabriel Dewan, has  appealed to the Federal and Plateau State Government not to relent in their renewed hope agenda towards ensuring that normalcy returns Mangu, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos LGAs.

Thr speaker in company of other members of the 10th Assembly while briefing journalists in Jos described the attack on innocent citizens as barbaric, callous, unprovoked and heinous.

“The 10h Plateau State House of Assembly wishes to condemn in strong terms,the Christmas Eve attack on some commumitics of Bokkos,Mangu and Barkin Ladi Local Govemment Areas of Plateau State,which led tothe loss of over one hundred lives, with many houses burnt and properties lost.”

“The House Commends the immediate action taken by the Plateau State Governor and leader of the time is now administration, Caleb Mutfwang and Vice President Kashim Shettima in dousing the tension to contain the security upraveavaled  in the State.”

“The House wishes to passionately call on the affected commuunities to understand such activities as an attempt to clestroy the relative peace wehave been enjoying in the State and therefore we cannot be taken back tothose inglorious dark days”

He stressed that “The State Legislature equally appealed to security agencies in the State, particularly the security outfits in those communities to stand firm and work proactively to discharge their primary mandate of maintaining Peace and Order without fear or favour as well as ensuring that bad elements and culprits perpetrating such dastarely acts are identified, apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law”

While condoling with those that lost their loved ones in the unfortunate attack, the House of Assembly appeals to the victims to the patient while Governments at all levels are taking necessary measures to contain the security challenges bedevilling the commuunities and the State at large.

The Speaker maintained that “As representatives of the people in various constituencies, they heartily felt their pains and will continue to identify with them in their bereavement and will also do everything possible to support the State Government in their quest to maintain the Peace and Order in those communities and the State.

The House of Assembly also called on the attention of the State Government to take a decisive measure in order to ensure the security oflives and properties as well as the overall wellbeing of citizens in the State.

The legislators also said as  matter of urgency, asked the State Government to provide immediate succour to victims of the crises and displaced persons through the State Emengency Management Agency(SEMA).

the House also appeals in the Tinubu led renewed hope administration to asiet the communities affected by the crisis in Plateau State to cushion the effect of the upheaval jointly.
