Plateau state Deputy Governor assures women group of collaboration

Plateau State Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo wants women to always support their female colleagues seeking elective positions.
Piyo was speaking when she received on a solidarity visit some women groups at her office in Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
The Deputy Governor who was in audience with the Plateau State leadership and members of Stand Up For Women Society encouraged them to support women seeking elective positions so that they will have a voice when legislations that concern them are being discussed.
She noted that since the return of democracy in 1999, the women representation in the Plateau State House of Assembly has never exceeded two, a situation that is not encouraging.
The Deputy Governor further assured that she will represent them very well and urged for, support, collaboration and mentorship amongst women.
Ealier, State Chairperson of Stand Up for Women Society, Grace Gora explained that the body which started in Plateau state was officially inaugurated in 2022 and has been working round the clock seeks to empower women at the grassroots to make them proactive in speaking up on issues that concerns women and the girl child.
The group congratulated the Deputy Governor for the feat she has attended and applauded Governor Caleb Mutfwang for picking a female Deputy Governor.
Gora further solicited for more representation of women in the present administration in the state.
The group leader also noted that they have a lot of programmes lined up for the benefit women in the state.
North Central Vice President of the group, Ladi Emmanuel who represented the President noted that the group represents a voice for women and encouraged the Deputy Governor to continue the good work she has been doing.
