Plateau Youth Leaders Reject Nationwide Protest

The Coalition of Youth Leaders of Plateau Communities have distanced itself from the proposed nationwide protest, describing the motive as unclear and suspicious.

Disclosing this during a press briefing at the NUJ press centre Jos, on Monday, spokesperson of the youth leaders Pololis Gyang, rejected the protest due to its ambiguous nature,but was quick to expressed commitment to the welfare and well-being of their people.

Gyang who is also the youth leader of Rock Heaven, said “The leaders acknowledge the economic hardship and suffering of their people, but emphasise the need for constructive ways to address these issues”.

They questioned the hidden sponsors and motives behind the protest, expressing concerns about the recruitment of touts and cultists to participate.

The youth leaders recalled the devastating effects of previous protests in the state and urged people to protect their communities from elements seeking to cause chaos and fomenting trouble.

“We in Plateau State wish to unequivocally dissociate ourselves from the anticipated protest due to the ambiguous and unclear circumstances surrounding it.

“As responsible youth leaders within our respective communities, we are deeply committed to the welfare and well-being of our people. We pursue these objectives with a foundation of equity and reciprocity, aiming for the peace and development of our communities”.

They called on the Federal Government to urgently address the economic hardships in the nation and improve the living conditions of citizens.

The youth leaders however resolved to pursue peace and progress for their state and the nation, rejecting the protest and its potentially destructive consequences which will only create more hardship in the country.
