The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the alleged killing of a police inspector.
In a press release, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that Inspector Ibrahim Mai Zabuwa, attached to the Gombe State Command, was killed and buried by the suspects.
Nguroje identified the suspects as Ezekiel Kefas, 67, and Stephen Zabadi, 44, both residents of Wamsa Suwa village in Lamurde Local Government Area. They were arrested on November 19, 2024, following a complaint by the deceased’s son, Danlami Ibrahim Mai Zabuwa.
“The suspects, on November 11, 2024, conspired to isolate, kill, and bury the victim, who had visited their village to demand the return of his three cows, which he had entrusted to the first suspect to support his farming activities,” Nguroje stated.
During the investigation, the suspects led detectives from the Anti-Homicide Unit to a shallow grave where the victim’s body was exhumed for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, strongly condemned the act and has deployed additional security to apprehend the remaining suspects on the run. “The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring diligent prosecution,” the release emphasized.
According to the statement, five suspects were involved in the crime, two of whom are now in custody and assisting police with valuable information.
