Police arrests Muhuyi Magaji over seizure of property allegedly linked to Abdullahi Ganduje

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the arrest of the Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption over the confiscation of property allegedly linked to the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Credible sources at the Kano Anti-corruption Commission told SolaceBase on Friday that operatives of the IGP monitoring unit led by one ASP Ahmed Bello was at the commission insisting that he has instruction to take the Chairman, Muhuyi Rimingado with him.

SolaceBase gathered that the bone of contention has to do with the trial of the former Managing Director , Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited, (KASCO) Bala Muhammed Inuwa who is standing trial over the diversion of public funds to the tune of over N4bn.

The trial that commenced in November 2023 at Kano High Court presided by Justice Hafsat Yahaya ordered the seizure of property linked to the matter including money in banks pending the determination of the suit.

In a frantic move by the former Managing Director, late last year, Bala Muhammed Inuwa filed a suit before another Kano High Court before Justice Aisha Ya’u who granted an order mandating the removal of police officers stationed at Limestone Processing Links Ltd., where the confiscated properties were kept.

However, the Anticorruption Commission expressed surprise that it was not aware of the suit as the applicant in the matter according to the order sued the police authority and the commission was not joined.

The commission said it immediately filed a stay of execution on the order asking to be joined in the suit as the police are just protecting the property are the ones attached to the commission and the commission is the party needed to be party in the suit, not the police.

Addressing journalists two weeks ago, shortly after preventing the move to take over the property worth over N2bn that includes trailers, trucks, minivans and others, the commission Chairman, Muhuyi Rimingado said KAROTA personnel were directed to move the items to a state government warehouse in Nasarawa GRA from Kumbotso local government area in line with section 40 of the anticorruption law that empowers the commission to act accordingly since the matter is in court.

Sources at the commission told SolaceBase that when the commission officials and Bala Muhammad Inuwa were invited to the Kano Police headquarters, the former managing director allegedly boasted that the items belonged to former governor Abdullahi Ganduje and nobody can take them away from him.

However, on Friday evening the IGP monitoring unit arrested Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado and was taken to Zone One police headquarters in Kano.

At the zone 1 police headquarters, the Lawyers to the anticorruption chairman were not allowed to speak with him.

Efforts to speak with the Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi was not successful as his line was engaged and a text message sent was not replied.

Also, the spokesman of Abdullahi Ganduje, APC National Chairman, Edwin Olofo could not be reached as his phone was switched off.
