President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the President’s office at about 2:30 p.m.
Tinubu had earlier, on March 3, forwarded Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, requesting his confirmation in accordance with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution.
The Senate confirmed Oyedele’s appointment on Wednesday, March 12, through a voice vote following an extensive screening session that lasted several hours.
Oyedele, a native of Ikaram-Akoko in Ondo State, has over two decades of experience in fiscal policy and tax administration.
Prior to his nomination, he served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts toward a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.
