The President and Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated a 7-storey building to the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) for use as its temporary Head Office in Kano.
At a brief handover ceremony held on Friday, April 18, 2025, the President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, officially presented the building to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NWDC, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, on behalf of Prof. Gwarzo.
The building, located at No. 16c Murtala Mohammed Way, Kano, is expected to serve as the Commission’s operational base as it begins its activities in the region.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Gwarzo described the donation as a modest contribution to support the newly established Commission in its mission to drive development across the North-West geopolitical zone.
“This gesture is part of our commitment to supporting institutions that are working for the betterment of our region and the country at large,” he said.
In his response, Prof. Ma’aji expressed profound gratitude to Prof. Gwarzo and the MAAUN management, describing the donation as a significant boost to the Commission’s capacity to commence operations.
“This generous gesture is a testament to Prof. Gwarzo’s enduring love for the North-West and his unwavering support for our vision. It will go a long way in facilitating the immediate take-off of the NWDC headquarters in Kano,” he stated.
