PUMA Describes Buhari as Iconic Leader, Highly Misunderstood

The Peace and Unity Media Advocacy (PUMA) has paid tribute to the late former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as an iconic leader who loved his country but was highly misunderstood by its citizens.

According to Comrade Salihu Othman Isah, Executive Director of PUMA, President Buhari’s leadership was marked by an uncompromising attitude that was necessary for the country’s progress during his tenure.

“The two times President Buhari emerged as the leader of the country were periods that required leaders with uncompromising attitudes to be on the driving seat,” Isah said.

Isah who was Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) praised Buhari’s efforts in tackling insecurity in the country, noting that his administration took significant steps to address the menace.

“While there were criticisms, President Buhari’s government made notable strides in stemming insecurity, and his efforts in this regard should not be overlooked,” he added.

The PUMA Executive Director, also a one time National Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) urged Nigerians to reflect on President Buhari’s contributions to the country’s development and to strive to build on the foundations he laid.

“As we bid farewell to this iconic leader, we should remember his love for the country and his unwavering commitment to its progress,” Isah said.

PUMA described President Buhari’s legacy as complex, noting that while some people criticized his methods, others praised his dedication to the nation.

“President Buhari was a leader who wore his heart on his sleeve, and his love for Nigeria was evident in his actions,” the organization said.

The organization prayed for the repose of President Buhari’s soul and comfort for his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
