No fewer than 50, 000 households benefitted in 2026 Huriyya Dauda Lawal’s Statewide distribution of Ramadan food packages across the 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara state.
Since inception of the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal, the wife of the Governor, Huriyya Lawal, moved with great compassion and deep affection for the people of Zamfara state, commenced Ramadan intervention programmme tagged First Lady Statewide Distribution of Ramadan Food Packages to Vulnerable Households.
As the third session of Ramadan intervention Programmme in the third year of Dauda Lawal ended today, the First Lady, Huriyya Lawal expressed appreciation to everyone whose contributions has made the intervention exercise a huge success.
In a statement issued by Comrade Rabi’tu Yusuf, the Chief Press Secretary Office of the First Lady of Zamfara State, Huriyya Lawal announced the successful conclusion of 2026 Ramadan Food Package Distribution Tour, delivering 50,000 food packages to vulnerable households across all fourteen (14) Local Government Areas of the State in one of the largest coordinated humanitarian interventions undertaken by the Office to date.
The statewide outreach, which culminated in a closing ceremony in Gusau, followed a comprehensive and inclusive distribution schedule designed to ensure equitable access for beneficiaries in urban and rural communities alike. The tour commenced in Shinkafi and Zurmi, proceeded to Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda, continued through Gummi and Bukkuyum, then Anka and Talata Mafara, followed by Maradun and Bakura, as well as Maru and Bungudu, before concluding in Tsafe and Gusau.
Each of the 50,000 food packages contained 20kg of Rice, Beans, Maize, Millet, 5kg of Sugar, Spaghetti, Cooking Oil, Salt and Clothing materials for women. The intervention was carefully structured to cushion the economic impact of rising food costs and provide meaningful relief to families observing the holy month of Ramadan.
To strengthen transparency, accountability and community ownership, ward-level distribution committees were inaugurated across the State. These committees worked closely with Local Government Chairmen and community stakeholders to identify deserving beneficiaries and supervise the distribution process. The Office emphasized zero tolerance for diversion or favoritism, revealing its commitment to fairness and integrity.
In addition to the general distribution, the First Lady, in her capacity as Ambassador of the Zakkat and Endowment Board, supervised a targeted Ramadan intervention for widows, orphans and other vulnerable groups. Beneficiaries under this special category received 25kg of rice, ₦20,000 in cash support and clothing materials to further ease their hardship during the fasting period.
The First Lady expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency Dauda Lawal, for his support and continued commitment to policies and programmes that prioritize the welfare and dignity of citizens. She prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him strength, wisdom and continued success in steering the affairs of the State.
Special recognition was also extended to the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Ahmed Garba Yandi, for his steadfast collaboration and support of the Ramadan intervention initiative for the third consecutive year.
The Office further commended the leadership of the Zakkat and Endowment Board, including the Chairman, Sheikh Ahmad Bin Umar Kanoma, and the Executive Secretary, Malam Habib Balarabe Zawiyya, for their dedication, integrity and diligence in ensuring that assistance reached the intended beneficiaries.
The successful completion of the 2026 Ramadan Food Package Distribution Tour reinforces the Office’s sustained commitment to humanitarian service, social protection and inclusive development across Nigeria. The Office remains resolute in its mission to support vulnerable populations and promote compassion, unity and shared prosperity.
