Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has directed all 44 Local Government Area (LGA) Caretaker Committee Chairmen to reside or relocate to their designated LGAs.
The stern warning came during a ceremony at the Kano Government House on Saturday, where Gwarzo received over 1,000 defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) from Shanono and Bagwai LGAs.
Deputy Governor Gwarzo, who also serves as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, emphasized the importance of Chairmen being physically present in their communities.
He further charged all Caretaker Committee Chairmen to relocate to their respective Councils and initiate beneficial projects in the sectors of health, education and water among other pressing demands.
Gwarzo warned that the state government will not tolerate absentee leadership. “The Kano State Government will not tolerate LG Council Chairmen not staying in the midst of their people to listen to their demands for the progress of the State at large,” he said.
To ensure compliance, the Deputy Governor further announced that scheduled and unscheduled inspections of various LGAs to assess the Chairmen’s dedication to serving their communities would be carried out.
Despite the directive, Gwarzo reaffirmed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to implementing programs that benefit all residents across Kano State.
He concluded by calling for continued public support for the administration’s vision of progress and prosperity.
