Road accident claims lives of two Sokoto doctors, four friends
A tragic road accident along the Bodinga-Yabo road in Sokoto State has claimed the lives of two medical doctors from the Sokoto Specialist Hospital and four of their friends.
The victims were on their way to Kebbi State on Sunday when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck.
The deceased doctors, Dr. Anas Chika and Dr. Abubakar Liman Shehu, were described as dedicated professionals who made significant contributions to the health sector.
Confirming the incident, the Chief Medical Director of Sokoto Specialist Hospital, Dr. Attahiru Isa, said, “We lost two of our finest doctors. Dr. Anas was attached to the Gynaecology Department, while Dr. Shehu served in the General Out-patient Department and was also the Chief Imam of the department. Their loss is deeply felt not only by the hospital but also by the state government and the community they served with such dedication.”
Dr. Isa further lamented the tragedy, noting, “It is something that truly touched our hearts. We pray for Allah to grant them Jannatul Firdaus and give their families the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Chairman in Sokoto State, Dr. Farouk Kabiru, also expressed his grief, describing the deceased as young, talented, and committed professionals.
“This is a huge loss to the medical profession and the state at large. Their dedication to improving healthcare and their positive impact on humanity will not be forgotten,” Dr. Kabiru said.
