Rumfa Old boys Honour NAN MD in Kano

The Class ’84 of Rumfa College Old Boys Association(RUMFOBA) on Thursday honoured one of their own, Malam Ali M.Ali, the Managing Director/CEO of News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) with an Award of Merit and Award of Excellence.
The Award ceremony which took place at the Grand Central Hotel, Kano, drew hundreds of old boys from the famous Rumfa College, Kano, as well as other members of the public from within and outside the State.
The occasion was the 40th Anniversary and Annual Merit Award ceremony during which Malam Ali alongside eight others was honoured.
The other Awardees include: Dr Yakubu Adam Kofar Mata, a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Service, Prof. Abdulrahman Sheshe, the Chief Medical Director, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, Kano State Commissioner of Health and Mohammed Yusuf Dandua, Permanent Secretary, Kano State.
The rest were, Ali M.Maje, Clerk/Permanent Secretary, Kano State House of Assembly, Bashir Sunusi, Permanent Secretary, Kano State and Ado Inuwa, Controller of Correction, Nigerian Correction Services, Kano State.
In his speech at the occasion, the Chairman of RUMFOBA Class ’84, Alhaji Ahmad Jibril, said the programme was essentially organized to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the members’ graduation from Rumfa College and to thank God for the feat
Jibril also said that the occasion was put together to enable members to interact and recall moments during their stay in school.
“We also gathered here today to pray for the departed ones among us, the sick ones, as well as identify the needy among us and support them as much as we can,” he said.
The chairman also said that the association would stage Class ’84 Day at the premises of their Alma Mater as part of the anniversary celebration.
The NAN CEO while speaking to newsmen at the event, expressed happiness at the honour extended to him.
“I am so excited and happy to be recognized for the honour done to me by my association on this very important occasion,” he said.
