Sallah/Farming: Senator Yari to distribute 104 trucks of Rice, assorted Fertilizer

Former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has procured 28 trucks of rice to be distributed for the needy across the 14 LGA’s of the state aimed to cushion the hardship they are facing for the forthcoming Sallah celebrations, and another 76 trucks of assorted fertilizer to be sold to farmers at subsidized price for the 2024 wet season.

Chairman of A. A. Yari Political Organisation who also leads the distribution Committee, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, made the disclosure in Gusau, Zamfara State capital during a meeting with members of the Committee on Tuesday.

He explained that the gesture which will cover the needy across the State was conceived following the Senator Yari’s desire to assist people especially the most vulnerable to celebrate the occasion with relative ease.

Under the arrangement which will be supervised by the Ulama Committee that handled the Senator’s Previous gestures, Hon. Lawal M. Liman disclosed that each of the 14 Local Government Areas is allocated 2 trucks of 50kg bags of rice.

During the exercise which is to be preceded by the selection of the beneficiaries that is devoid of political inclination, 6 persons will be given a 50kg of rice to share among themselves.

The Chairman reiterated that, “The commitment of Senator Yari towards providing succour to the people of the state in particular and humanity in general at all times, pleaded with the officials entrusted for the distribution exercise to live above board in an attempt to achieve the goals of the project initiator.

In the same vein, the Senator has provided 76 trucks of assorted fertilisers for distribution to farmers at a subsidized price across the state, this according to M. Liman, 5 trucks of the commodity will be given to each of the 8 LGA’s of Zamfara central and north senatorial districts respectively.

Hon. Liman further said that, farmers in the 6 LGA’s that made up of Zamfara west senatorial district where the Senator represents are to share 6 trucks each of the assorted fertilisers.

He explained that “The NPK and Urea fertilisers provided by the Senator costs between #40, 000.00 to #45, 000.00 per each bag of 50kg in the market and will be sold to farmers at the cost of #20, 000.00 per each bag.

According to him, the idea behind the subsidy was to bail out farmers across the state from its shortage as well as its near out of reach because of the sky-rocketed prices in the market.
