Security forces foil bandit attack in Zamfara, kill notorious leader Dan Mudale
Security forces in Zamfara State have successfully repelled a bandit attack on Keta town in Tsafe Local Government Area, killing several assailants, including the infamous gang leader, Dan Mudale.
Confirming the development on Friday, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, said officers acted swiftly following intelligence reports about the planned invasion.
“At approximately 1540hrs, a good Samaritan reported that a large number of armed bandits had stormed Keta town with the intention of perpetrating inhumane acts,” Abubakar stated.
A combined team of police personnel from the Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, local hunters, and Community Protection Guards swiftly mobilized and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, successfully neutralizing several bandits, including their leader, Dan Mudale.
“The gallant operatives fought bravely, repelling the attackers and preventing them from causing harm to innocent residents,” he added.
Despite the successful operation, Abubakar confirmed that security forces suffered casualties.
“Regrettably, one PMF personnel, four Community Protection Guard (CPG) members, and two hunters made the ultimate sacrifice during the attack.”
He further stated that wounded hunters were receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing their commitment to eliminating criminal elements in the state.
