Sen. Ndume’s Removal Seen as Threat to Democracy, Northern Nigeria

Hon. Zaharaddeen Babba Mazoji, a former Senatorial aspirant under the PDP umbrella from Funtua Zone, has strongly criticized the recent removal of Senator Muhammad Ndume, describing it as a significant blow to democracy.

Mazoji echoed Ndume’s concerns about the growing hardships faced by Nigerians, emphasizing the urgent need for governmental action to address food scarcity. He condemned what he sees as an assault on democratic principles, particularly the freedom of expression.

“It is unfortunate that the APC and the Senate, institutions meant to uphold democracy, have stifled dissenting voices. There is no evidence that Senator Indume violated any laws. It is disappointing that many senators, especially from the North, have remained silent in the face of these irregularities” Mazoji remarked.

He continued “This issue transcends political parties; it affects all Nigerians. The APC should operate democratically, facilitating open dialogue and respecting the separation of powers, rather than exerting undue influence.”

Mazoji urged all Nigerians to uphold the democratic tradition and ensure that elected representatives can freely voice the concerns of their constituents within the bounds of the law.
