Senate announces 45-member committee for constitution review

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has disclosed the formation of a constitutional review committee, consisting of over 45 members, tasked with reviewing the 1999 constitution.

“The committee will be headed by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin,” announced Akpabio.

The committee would also comprise six lawmakers from each geopolitical zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

In particular, the committee will review the laws in the area of artificial intelligence, state police, among others. and is expected to be inaugurated next week Tuesday.
