Senator Barau visits Kano phone market after fire, donates relief items worth N200m
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, on Sunday visited the Farm Centre, Kano’s largest phone market, to sympathize with traders affected by a fire outbreak that occurred on Friday.
This was contained in a statement signed by Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity on Sunday.
During the visit, Senator Barau announced a donation of N200 million worth of gadgets to support the victims and help them recover from their losses.
“When the news of the fire outbreak reached me on Friday, I was shocked and promised to come here and sympathize with you,” he said.
“We are all proud of you and the market. Thousands of our youths are engaged here and earning a living.”
“My office will donate N200 million worth of gadgets to the victims of this fire outbreak. We will discuss the type of gadgets you want with your leaders.”
Senator Barau also donated one Hilux vehicle, five motorcycles, 1,000 units of solar street lights, and promised to build a pedestrian bridge.
“Based on the request of your chairman to secure this market, I hereby donate 1,000 units of solar street lights, a Hilux vehicle, and five motorcycles to the market for patrol,” he stated.
The market chairman, Jamilu Bala Gama, thanked Senator Barau for the visit and the donations.
“Your Excellency, you are a super senator who works beyond his senatorial district. I have never seen a senator like you. You have done everything for us. May Allah reward you.”
