Senator Binos, NEMA Reaches Out To Flood Victims in Adamawa

The Adamawa Southern Senatorial District constituents across nine local government areas affected by the recent flood disaster have been provided with relief materials worth millions of Naira by National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe jointly.

Food and non food items being provided by NEMA with additional support from Senator Yaroe personally included;945 bags of maize and rice, cartons of spaghetti, cartons of vegetable oil among others.

Each of the nine (9) Local Government Areas (LGAs) that constituted Adamawa Southern Senatorial District got fifty-five (55) bags of maize and fifty (50) bags of rice, with four hundred and ninety-five (495) bags of maize and four hundred and forty-five (450) bags of rice, making the total of nine hundred and forty-five (945) bags in whole.

Speaking to the local government areas representatives during the distribution exercise held in Mayo-belwa yesterday Senator Binos Yaroe said that, the idea was purely to assist his constituents at a time of need considering the hardship facing us as a people.

The Senator said that the provision of the relief materials by NEMA had stimulated him to carry out distribution of 945 bags of grains to his constituents, noting that he wanted his constituents to have a sense of belonging.

While assuring his constituents of his desire to be there for them at every circumstances, Senator Binos stated that, the bags of grains were procured from his personal pockets, noting that he would do everything humanly possible to meet the needs of his constituents.

In his words, “One of the reasons why I decided to distribute these bags of grains is because NEMA brought some food and non-food items to be distributed to flood victims across five communities in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.

“While flood victims benefitted from the relief materials being provided by NEMA, I thought it was right for others too to have some items because almost all households across the 9 LGAs were affected by the natural disaster. Hence, the need for my contribution”.

In her remarks shortly after collecting one hundred and five (105) bags of grains for onward distribution for Demsa local government council.Representative Hon. (Mrs) Marilyn Danbabayi, described Senator Binos as a politician who has the interest of his constituents at heart, noting that the bags of grains would go a long way in enhancing and livelihoods of the masses across the 9 LGAs.

She pointed out that the most vulnerable in the society would be the targeted beneficiaries as instructed by the Senator, adding that effective mechanisms have been put in place for transparency in the distribution process.

Similarly, Mallam Abubakar Usman, representative of Jada Local Government Area (LGA), said that. this was the 5th time that Senator Binos was reaching out to his constituents with the provision of food and non-food items for the benefit of the people of Adamawa South this year alone.

He said that, during the distribution, they would ensure those who benefited from the previous distributions would not benefit from this one. This is done to ensure the packages go round, targeting the most vulnerable in the area.

Also speaking at the event, an official from NEMA Operations Office Yola, Mr. Abdulkadiri Mahmud, said that, the Agency saw the need to reach out to the victims of natural disaster in order to help their livelihoods applauding Senator Yaroe for his commitment, determination and love to enhancing the wellbeing and welfare of his constituents, especially for contributing with the distribution of bags of grains to uplift the livelihoods of the masses.

A cross section of benefitting flood victims, who spoke after receiving the relief materials, thanked NEMA and Senator Binos for reaching out to them in this critical time of their lives.

The distribution, which was facilitated by the Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe,was part of the efforts by the Agency to reach out to victims of recent floodings and was borne out of the reports being submitted to the Agency and its assessment in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
