Shanono LG Sponsors 200 Students for Tertiary Education
The Executive Chairman of Shanono Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Barau, has approved the sponsorship of 200 outstanding students for admission into various tertiary institutions, with a dedicated budget of N80 million.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to newsnen by the Chairman’s spokesperson, Ammar Wakili Shanono, on Friday.
According to the statement, the beneficiaries were meticulously selected based on merit and academic promise. They have been admitted into reputable colleges of education and universities within Kano State and across Nigeria.
The statement highlighted that, given the limited economic opportunities within Shanono Local Government, the administration views education as the most viable and enduring investment in the future of its youth. By empowering young people through education, the council aims to foster self-reliance and long-term development in the community.
Chairman Barau also reaffirmed the council’s commitment to continuing this initiative annually, ensuring that more indigent but deserving students benefit from similar educational support in the coming years.
He further encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused and dedicated to their studies, urging them to embody discipline, excellence, and integrity — and to serve as worthy ambassadors of Shanono wherever they go.
