Stakeholders Pledge Compliance With SON’s Products Quality Assurance Rules In Adamawa.

Stakeholders in the manufacturing and entrepreneurship sectors have pledged compliance with all rules and regulations guiding product’s standardisation for a sustainable development in Nigeria.

The stakeholders made the pledge at a one- day sensitization Town Hall organized by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria(SON) in Yola, Adamawa state capital,with the theme “Nigeria First:Standardisation Path To Sustainable Economic Growth.”

In his submission, Dr.Umar Abdullahi of the Modibbo Adamawa University(MAU) described the meeting as “interesting session” meant to sensitize manufacturers on how best to ensure standardisation for competiness which is a global order now.

Abdullahi said for the home-based business to grow for global competitive market certain laid down standards must be maintained noting that the move by SON was timely and on the right direction for economic development.

Also speaking at the event, Lubabatu Musa of the Technology Incubation Centre, Yola, explained that the training brought a platform for manufacturers and entrepreneurs to be taught the best global practices for the standardisation of their products’ quality very well.

Musa applauded SON for the opportunity provided, stressing that it would go a long way in contributing to the development of the country, economically as well as attract international competitiveness.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria(SON), Dr Ifeanyi Chukwunonso, expressed the readiness of the Federal Government towards sustainability of economic development through standardisation of products.

Represented by the Organization’s Director Cooperative Affairs, Mrs Talatu
Ethan,Chukwunonso said the success of the new policy hinges on adherence to standards in production and distribution.

According to him,standardisation is the backbone of industrial growth, consumer protection and international trade.

While urging stakeholders, producers, marketers, retailers and the academia to embrace quality practices and support SON in the fight against substandard goods, Chukwunonso called on Nigerians to patronize made-in-Nigeria goods as a path to sustainable economic development.

“Our goal is to ensure that Nigerian products meet the minimum requirements of the Nigerian Industrial Standards, making them competitive globally.”

“As we move forward with renewed determination, let us all commit to a simple but powerful creed: Nigeria First, Standards Always.

“Together, we can build a Nigeria whose products command respect, whose industries create jobs, and whose economy stands strong powered by standards,” Chukwunonso added.
