SUBEB Charges Upper Basic School Principals to Exceed Expectations in Duty Performance

The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Kano, Malam Yusuf Kabir has charged the Principals of Upper Basic Schools to live up to expectation while discharging their duties.
Malam Yusuf gave the charged during a meeting with Upper Basic Principals of Dawakin Kudu Zone held at SBMC Hall SUBEB Headquarters, Audu Bako Secretariat Kano.
The Executive Chairman said the meeting was to reaffirm the commitment of the present administration of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf to reinvigorate and transform education at all levels, in the state through construction of additional Class rooms, renovation of dilapidated ones while sustaining training and retraining of teachers to meet up with modern teaching methodologies.
Malam Yusuf pointed out that the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf is resolute on implementation of Free and Compulsory Education policy to ensure that no child is denied the right to access education due to financial constraints.
“As Principals, you are the torchbearers of educational standards and excellent within your institution. It is imperative that you strive to live up to the expectations before you in the discharge of your duties” he reiterated.
He then tasked them on constant monitoring of teaching and learning activities in their respective schools through regular assessment, lesson observation and giving feedback to maintain the high standard of teaching and learning and ensure proper students’ progress.
He further called for full cooperation in accepting the National policy/UBE law on education, which mandates that all Junior Secondary Schools should be under the control of SUBEB, as the Board has fully complied.
The move is not just a formality but a strategic designed to standardize and improve the quality of education across all our schools.
The Chairman highlighted the importance of involving the School Based Management Committee (SBMC), Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and stakeholders in the affairs of schools adding that their involvement will improved school governance and increased more support to the schools by engaging them actively in the activities of schools.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Ag. Director Junior Secondary School, Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu welcomed everyone in attendance and thanked Allah for making the meeting possible.
She thanked the Executive Chairman for approving the conduct of the meeting and then urged the principals to pay attention on key issues discussed during the meeting.
In his remark, the Chairman of the All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Kano State wing Malam Bashir Garba represented by the Secretary General of the Association, Malam Ibrahim Umar Karaye expressed his gratitude to the Executive Chairman for involving their members in the meeting noting that the move will poster unity among their members.
“I want to assure you that the ANCOPSS will treat both Senior and Junior Secondary Schools principals equally, therefore your support and cooperation is highly imperative” he affirmed
In his vote of thank, the Principal of GGJSS Tatsaraki D/Kudu Malam Muhd Musa Kofar Mata thanked the Chairman on behalf of his colleague for organizing the meeting and assured to make good use of all the recommendation and directive given by the Executive Chairman.
