SWAN urges Kano govt to appoint technocrats to manage sports
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State chapter has urged the state government to appoint technocrats with vast knowledge of sports to manage the affairs of Kano Pillars FC and other sports in the state.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the secretary of SWAN, Muhammad Tijani and the Chairman, Zahradeen Saleh, respectively.
The association appealed for the renovation and upgrade of Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars Stadium, Mahaha Sports Complex, Ado Bayero Square, and all other sporting facilities in the state to provide conducive environments for sports to thrive.
According to the association, this will provide conducive environments for athletes to thrive and host national and international events.
According to the statement, the association has also inaugurated an advisory committee composed of experienced members who are willing and ready to serve in any capacity.
“Our committee has a comprehensive blueprint to develop sports in the state.
The association also expressed sadness over the current crises affecting Kano Pillars FC.
“We understand the challenges the team is facing and urge all stakeholders to work together to resolve the issues.
“Our thoughts are with the players, coaches, and fans during this difficult time.
“We believe in the resilience of the club and the passion of its supporters. We hope for a swift resolution and a return to success for the club,” the statement said. (NAN)
