TCI Sensitizes Jigawa Religious leaders on Childbirth spacing

A non governmental Organization popularly known as The Challenge Initiative (TCI), organised an orientation for religious leaders on Childbirth spacing in Jigawa state.

The orientation meeting that covered both Islamic/Christian religious leaders, Civil Society Organization and media practitioners held at state Secretariat Dutse.

Speaking during the orientation, the TCI state program Manager Ankale Kongude said, the meeting would help through sharing experiences, identifying the challenges and to design how to work together to champion childbirth spacing in the state.

“The objectives of the meeting is to share the state childbirth situation with key religious leaders. To improve partnership between state and religious leaders in promoting health programs and to identify way forward in promoting childbirth spacing in the state”, he said.

The state Program Manager then urged the participants to cooperate and contribute their quota towards reducing maternal mortality and stunted rates in the state through advocating for childbirth spacing in Jigawa.

While making his remarks during the meeting, the Director Jigawa state Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Shehu Sambo described childbirth spacing as better solution to our challenges both socially, economically and religiously in the state.

“The benefits of Childbirth spacing is numerous to the extent that it reduce maternal and child mortality, it reduce children Malnutrition and stunted rates, and by adoption of family spacing all the above challenges can be addressed and improve our socioeconomic wellbeing of our life”, Dr Sambo said.

He then commended TCI for partnering with Jigawa state government to champion childbirth spacing and promised more support and cooperation for the success of the program.
