Teaching is not a Second-class Career, Says Kano Deputy Governor

Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has urged teachers not to perceive their profession as a second-class career, emphasizing that teaching carries immense prestige and the power to shape lives.

Speaking during a familiarization visit to Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano, the Deputy Governor, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Higher Education, encouraged students to take pride in their training as future educators.

“Students of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education should be proud of themselves for being groomed to become potential teachers. Teaching is not a profession for those with no other options it is a noble calling with the capacity to transform communities,” he stated.

He further assured the students that with dedication and commitment to their studies, they have limitless opportunities to excel and make a significant impact in their communities, the state, and the nation at large.

During the visit, Deputy Governor Gwarzo expressed satisfaction with the East-West Agricultural Project at the college. He pledged to propose the initiative to the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure the replication of similar projects at least one in each senatorial district across the state.

He also commended the college’s achievements in infrastructure, innovation, and academic excellence, lauding the sense of unity within the institution.

Speaking earlier,  Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Kabiru Ahmed Gwarzo, appreciated the Deputy Governor for his visit and highlighted the critical role of government support in the institution’s progress.

He noted that all achievements recorded by the college management were made possible through the backing of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy.

The Acting Provost explained that their approvals and assistance ensured success in accreditation exercises, the smooth transfer of students from the defunct Sa’adatu Rimi University, Kano, to other universities, and the college’s improved electricity supply through collaboration with Kano State Electricity Agency (KHEDCO) among others.

Dr. Kabiru reaffirmed the college’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and continuing its efforts to deliver quality education.
