Tenure Expiry: Kano NUJ Directs Correspondent’ Chapel To Appoint Credentials/Screening Committee

The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Kano State Council, has directed the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel to appoint a Screening/Credentials Committee to organize election for new Executives of the chapel.
The directive is contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the chapel by the council’s Secretary, Abubakar Shehu Kwaru.
Kwaru explained that the directive is consequent upon the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent leadership of the chapel on June 25,2025.
The letter reads in part: “Following the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent leadership of the Chapel on June 25, 2025, you are hereby directed to appoint a screening/credential committee to organize election of new executives.”
The council emphasized that the directive is in line with Article 5, Sections 9(a) and 9(g) of the NUJ Constitution.
“We await your prompt action. Accept my warmest regards,” the document added.
