The enemies of peaceful coexistence: A Response to so-called Middle -Belt Patriotic Congress’s baseless accusations against Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i
By Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai.
“It has been said that idleness is the parent of mischief, which is very true; but mischief itself is merely an attempt to escape from the dreary vacuum of idleness.” – John Tillotson
In recent times, there have been baseless and mischievous claims made against the person of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, by certain organizations and individuals. The allegations range from plotting to destabilize the government to promoting religious disharmony and supervising mass genocides.
However, it is important to approach such claims with a rational mindset, asking whether these accusations have any substantial evidence or are merely an attempt to manipulate actions through malice and anger.
To address these allegations, it is crucial to analyze the character and leadership qualities of Malam Nasir El-Rufai objectively. Throughout his tenure as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja and as the Governor of Kaduna State for eight years, he has displayed patriotism, good leadership, and a genuine concern for his people.
His efforts and dedication have not gone unnoticed, leading to his recent crowning as Gbobaniyi of Ijebuland by the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, making him the first Nigerian outside of the Southwest to receive such an honour.
It is worth noting that Malam Nasir El-Rufai has already paid his dues to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, who stood firmly behind him and went the extra mile to ensure a power shift to Southern Nigeria. Moreover, he has publicly declared his support for Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s presidential ambitions, further dispelling the claims of destabilizing the government attributed to him or his son, Bello Muhammad El-Rufai.
It is important to differentiate between genuine concerns and politically motivated mischief. The Middle -Belt Patriotic Congress and its cohorts have been known for making baseless accusations and promoting religious disharmony. By falling for such manipulative tactics, we risk neglecting the real issues at hand and diverting attention from significant matters that need our collective focus.
We must also consider the previous actions and statements of certain individuals and organizations who now level allegations against Malam Nasir El-Rufai. It is evident that their intent may be driven by personal or political motives rather than genuine concern for the welfare of the people. Instead of disdain, it is more productive to seek avenues of education and engagement, aiming to bridge the gap in understanding and promoting mutual respect.
Meanwhile, we should approach these allegations against Malam Nasir El-Rufai with caution, critically evaluating claims and demanding substantial evidence. As public figures, it is our responsibility to promote informed discussions and unity rather than be swayed by baseless accusations and malice. By focusing on the achievements, leadership qualities, and genuine dedication displayed by leaders like Malam Nasir El-Rufai, we can work towards a better future for our nation.
However, Senator Uba Sani’s leadership holds significant promise for Kaduna State. As concerned citizens, we encourage him to prioritize fostering open communication and collaboration with all stakeholders, regardless of their differences.
It’s vital to guard against divisive rhetoric and misinformation, recognizing the potential for manipulation by those who seek to exploit political rivalries and creates rifts between him and Mal Nasir El-rufai. Building trust and understanding across communities is crucial for sustainable progress.
The long-standing bond between Senator Uba Sani and Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i reflects a commitment to collaborative governance.
We urge Senator Uba Sani to exercise caution when dealing with individuals known for their malicious intentions and their associates. It is also crucial to be mindful of the unwavering support towards his enemies rather than his loyal followers as well as those who genuinely care about his success especially Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i.
We are aware that there are mischief-makers who are discontented with the solid relationship you share with Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and are actively working to sow discord between you and Malam Nasir El-Rufai, with the aim of ending the amicable rapport that has existed for more than thirty years.
Engaging and associating with individuals like Rev Joseph Hayaf of CAN and their cohorts who are the true enemies of peaceful coexistence in Kaduna State would be a shocking development for an esteemed governor like yourself.
Rev Hayaf who was an adent supporter of an opposition party PDP came openly to show his total allegiance and solidarity to PDP during governatorial election in the year 2023. He was the same person who also instructed his fellows especially Christians to come out in mass to vote PDP while sideline the labour party since it has no relevance at that material time.
Rev Joseph Hayaf did everything he could to prostrate the winning chances of the ruling party APC in kaduna state not to win the election that brought out Senator Uba Sani as the elected Executive Governor of kaduna state.
Furthermore, Rev Joseph Hayaf was for long an active member of PDP and participated fully in the governatorial campaign of Isa Kudan a PDP flag bearer. He openly campaigned against APC and Senator Uba Sani the current governor of Kaduna State.
It is disheartening to witness the individuals like Rev Joseph Hayaf and his associates with whom you have developed a relationship now resorting to name-calling, labelling your supporters, your Excellency as Islamists, gingoists, and bandits, while making references to figures such as Former President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i.
If we may ask when exactly such mischief markers return to APC and leave their party PDP?
Overall, we advise caution your Excellency in your associations with such enemies of peaceful coexistence and urge you to prioritize the welfare and peaceful coexistence of all the people in Kaduna State.
It’s important to acknowledge the value of shared experiences and perspectives of former Governor Mal Nasir El-rufai, while simultaneously recognizing the need for inclusive dialogue and engagement with broader constituencies especially your supporters.
Let us move forward with a spirit of unity and collective purpose. Engaging openly with all voices, addressing concerns with transparency, and working collaboratively towards shared goals will pave the way for a brighter future for everyone in Kaduna State.
